We live in a world that competes relentlessly for our attention, yet so few spaces are intentionally designed to deepen it.
Glenstead exists to create the conditions in which that becomes possible.
Founded by opera singer, writer and curator Danny Kitzman, Glenstead is a contemporary cultural practice creating original live experiences that bring together music, storytelling, hospitality and conversation. Every experience is carefully composed—not simply around a theme, but around the subtle decisions that shape how people feel, where they direct their attention, and what they carry home afterwards.
Whether through wine, music, food or story, the medium is never the point.
Attention is.
From that, curiosity, conversation and connection can begin.
Many Glenstead evenings begin with something familiar:
A shared table.
A glass of wine.
A room full of strangers.
They rarely end there.
They become conversations, discoveries and moments of genuine connection that continue long after the evening itself has finished.
Years spent performing opera taught Danny that the most powerful moments are often shaped by things an audience never consciously notices: pacing, silence, anticipation, rhythm, generosity and trust.
Glenstead applies those same artistic principles beyond the concert hall, designing experiences where every element contributes to a larger whole.
Today Glenstead is rooted in the North East of England, developing original public events, commissioned work and collaborations with cultural organisations, museums, galleries and hospitality partners. The ambition is to build a lasting cultural practice that contributes to the creative life of the region through original commissions, collaborations and public experiences.
Every project explores the same underlying question:
What becomes possible when we create the conditions for people to notice more?
The answer is still unfolding.
And that’s exactly where Glenstead wants to be.
