The Hermit Selection isn’t a wine club.

It isn’t a subscription.

And it isn’t a mystery box.

Each Selection is built around an idea.

Sometimes it’s two bottles that belong in conversation with one another. Sometimes it might be four. Occasionally it may be something larger. The format will change whenever I think it should—but the principle stays the same.

Every bottle has earned its place.

If I’m asking you to trust me with your curiosity, then I take that responsibility seriously.

Selection No. 1

Some wines ask to be understood immediately.

These don’t.

They’re the bottles people almost talk themselves out of trying.

The ones they’d normally walk past.

The ones that quietly become favourites by the end of the evening.

This first Selection is an invitation to spend a little longer with two wines that reward curiosity over certainty.

Each Selection is assembled in small numbers and prepared to match reservations. Once reservations close, I’ll place the order and begin preparing every Selection.

How it works.

  1. Reserve your Selection using the form below.

  2. I’ll email you a personalised invoice with payment details.

  3. Your reservation will be held for 48 hours while payment is made.

  4. Once payment has been received, your Selection is confirmed.

  5. After reservations close, I’ll place the order and let you know as soon as your Selection is ready for collection.

You’ll be able to collect from Newcastle or Hexham, whichever is more convenient.

    The Hermit Selection isn’t a subscription or a monthly wine club.

    I’ll only release a new Selection when I genuinely have something worth sharing. Sometimes they’ll be close together. Sometimes there may be a longer gap.

    I’d much rather send fewer Selections that genuinely excite me than fill your inbox with routine.

    One of the most rewarding moments at Wines for the Curious was watching people discover they loved wines they’d already decided they wouldn’t enjoy.

    The Selection is designed to preserve a little of that feeling.

    I’ll always tell you the idea behind the Selection, the style of wines you can expect, and why I chose them —but I won’t spoil the discovery.

  • No.

    Some may contain two bottles. Others may contain four. The theme, format and price will change depending on the wines themselves.

    The only constant is that every bottle has been chosen because I think it’s genuinely worth your attention.

    If it’s still available, I’ll always do my best to source more for you.

  • Reservations for Selection No. 1 close on Sunday 2 August.

    Once reservations have closed, I’ll place the order and begin preparing each Selection. If you miss this one, don’t worry—there’ll be another.

  • Once you’ve reserved your Selection, I’ll hold it for 48 hours while payment is made. If payment hasn’t been received after that time, I may release the reservation so someone else has the opportunity to purchase it.

  • Collections will be available in Newcastle and Hexham.

    Once your reservation is confirmed, I’ll send full collection details with your invoice and keep you updated as soon as your Selection is ready.

  • Once you’ve reserved your Selection, I’ll send you a personalised invoice with payment details.

    Your Selection will be confirmed as soon as payment has been received.

  • Absolutely—provided I haven’t placed the order yet.

    If your circumstances change before reservations close, just let me know and I’ll cancel your reservation. Once I’ve placed the order with the importer, I’m generally unable to offer cancellations, as each Selection is assembled specifically to match reservations.
